Are Your Eyes Bigger Than Your Stomach? For many people the holiday season makes crowded schedules even more stuffed. During this time we feel pressured to cram in more activities and commitments than we'd ever consider the rest of the year. The To Do list is piled higher and higher with "great ideas" for holiday gift giving, entertaining, decorating, and event planning that would make even Martha Stewart cringe. Then stress mounts and instead of enjoying the season, we end up frustrated and exhausted, wondering what happened to 'tis the season to be jolly. Anticipating and planning for the holidays is a lot like standing in the buffet line at a really great restaurant - there are so many choices! I call it The Eyes Bigger Than Stomach Syndrome. Everything looks soooo good and it's so easy to delude ourselves that we can find room for it all - hey, it's only once a year, right? So we feast away - and ultimately crash and burn (heartburn that is!) And about halfway through the season we're overloaded, stressed out, and acting out our own version of Mr. E. Scrooge. This year, before you start stuffing your schedule with holiday commitments and activities, take some time to plan how you'd like to spend your time. You can't do it all, so pick and choose what's really important to you. Taste and enjoy the flavor of the things that really "juice" you. If you want room for that scrumptious dessert, you may have to forgo the Gorgonzola potatoes. You know that when you overeat, you end up not enjoying any of it. Be deliberate and thoughtful when planning your holidays - as Martha would say, "It's a good thing!" Wishing you a full (but not stuffed!) holiday season,

"A good holiday is one spent among people whose notions of time are vaguer than yours."
